SeaPal is a navigation application designed for sailors and water sports enthusiasts, providing support for route planning and navigation tasks. The primary interface presents a map displaying the user’s current position alongside a forward course line. Users can efficiently create waypoints and routes, as well as quickly determine distances and courses through intuitive touch interactions.

The app includes access to online maps suitable for trip planning and documentation purposes, with particular emphasis placed on offline usability, accuracy, and detail. Digital nautical charts for selected regions can be downloaded for offline use, ensuring reliable navigation even without an internet connection.

Available chart regions encompass the U.S. coastlines including the Great Lakes, Argentina, Brazil, The Netherlands, the Baltic coasts of Germany, New Zealand, as well as inland waterways in Germany and the Netherlands. Specialized charts for Lake Constance, Bavarian Lakes, and the Mecklenburg Lakes are provided through extensions developed in cooperation with IBN Publishing House. Additional areas are currently under development.

This application was developed collaboratively between IBN Publishing House and HTWG Constance University, integrating the benefits of mobile device technology and touch interface design with the specific needs of sailors and skippers. As a result of this partnership, SeaPal Basic is offered free of charge. Users can purchase extensions and offline sea maps tailored to their geographical area and requirements.

The collaboration remains open to future expansions. Developers or providers interested in contributing further extensions are encouraged to contact the team.

The subscription renews automatically for 9.99 EUR annually unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal date. Renewal charges occur within 24 hours prior to the current period's end. Subscription management is accessible through your App Store account settings after purchase.
